An immaculate private workshop bay with a dark car raised on a four post lift
Enstone Airfield, Oxfordshire

The atelier

Nineteen thousand square feet of hangar, four bays, and one chief technician who signs off every car that leaves.

We bought the workshop first

Belgrave Nine started as a building with a lift in it. Ruaridh had spent four years running a works GT programme and had strong opinions about what happens to fast cars that are maintained by whoever is cheapest that month.

Priya Raval came from the same paddock, where she had been responsible for two cars that finished every race they started in three seasons. She has run this workshop since 2018 and has never once let a car leave that she had not driven herself.

Between hires

The cars live in a climate controlled room at sixteen degrees and forty five per cent humidity, on trickle chargers, with the tyres set slightly high and the handbrakes off. Every one of them is started and driven at least once a fortnight, whether it is booked or not.

Curator members keep a car of their own here on the same terms. It is the only part of the business we have never advertised, and it is full.

Who you will deal with

Ruaridh Sinclair, a Scottish man in his forties in a charcoal roll neck, in a dimly lit workshop

Ruaridh Sinclair

Founder

Eleven years racing endurance cars, four running a works GT programme, and one spent working out whether this idea made any sense. He does the handovers in London and answers the phone at weekends, which he insists is not a complaint.

Priya Raval, a British Indian woman in her thirties in workshop coveralls, in a bright workshop

Priya Raval

Chief technician

Runs the atelier and the three technicians in it. Responsible for the fourteen points, the condition records, and the standing instruction that no car leaves Enstone without being driven twenty miles first. Drives the R9 more than anyone.

Come and look round

Members are welcome at Enstone whenever the workshop is open, and so is anyone thinking about it. Bring good shoes, it is a working building.
