Three days above the Val d'Orcia: a mehndi, a mandap between the cypresses, and a long Italian lunch that refused to end.
Two families, two traditions, one hillside. Amara wanted the ceremonies of her childhood done properly, not performed as a theme. Deepak wanted his grandmother to be too busy dancing to cry. Both briefs were met.
The logistics were the quiet achievement: one hundred and forty guests from four countries, moved between a mehndi evening, a sangeet in the olive grove, a morning ceremony under a mandap built by a Sienese carpenter to a Jaipur drawing, and a final lunch that began at two and ended, technically, at midnight.
September heat was managed the Italian way: shade, water, timing, and no fighting the afternoon.
