Long candlelit winter wedding table in a white gallery space

Freya & Lena

Fifty-eight guests, four hundred candles and a gallery stripped back to white. A December wedding that leaned into the dark.

Seven months, start to finish, which is quick for us. Freya and Lena knew exactly what they wanted, which helps: candlelight, the people they love, and nothing that looked like it was trying.

The design work was subtraction. A gallery is already a room that knows how to hold attention, so we took things away until what remained had to matter: one long table, winter greenery cut that morning, and four hundred candles that took two people five hours and one very patient fire officer to realise.

The ceremony was in the round. Nobody sat further than four rows from the couple, and nobody needed a microphone.

“We wanted candlelight and the people we love, nothing else. Margot understood before we had finished the sentence.”
