Sailcloth marquee pitched on a Cornish clifftop above a turquoise cove

Josie & Tom

A sailcloth marquee on a private headland, planned around the one guest nobody could confirm: the weather.

Josie grew up swimming in the cove below this headland. There is no venue here, in any commercial sense: a farmer's field, a gate that had to be widened, and the best view in the county. Fourteen months of planning turned it into a place that could seat, feed and dance ninety-six people, then vanish a week later without a trace.

Everything was designed for wind first and photographs second, which is the right order on an Atlantic cliff. Sailcloth over frame, weighted florals, taper candles kept inside storm glass, and a marquee crew on standby through the night before.

The wind arrived on schedule. So did everything else.

Bride laughing as her veil lifts in the sea wind
Ceremony chairs and floral arch set on the cliff edge
Table detail with sea thrift, ranunculus and candles
Couple walking a coastal path between flowering gorse
Guests dancing in the marquee under festoon lights
Ivory wedding cake decorated with pressed wildflowers
“Elowen told us in the first call that the wind would be part of the day, and she was right. It was the best kind of chaos, and none of it touched us.”
